Visit the Magical World of Broadway

The magical world of New York is the Broadway Theater District in New York City.  It is considered the best with the highest level of commercial theaters in the world. What a great last minute vacation for student travelers interested in theater and performance.  Broadway represents a world of exciting learning opportunities.

The shows which reach Broadway are historically considered more mainstream than those produced Off-Broadway.  Musicals have longer runs than the non-musical productions. Musical productions including Wicked, Hairspray, Chicago, The Lion King, and Rent are a few of the Broadway musicals that have captured the imaginations of its audiences. Stay close by in a last minute vacation getaway hotel.

The area near the Times Square in midtown Manhattan is home for many Broadway theaters. You can line up at the discount ticket booths for some great Broadway productions. The dizzying neon lights of stardom will make any aspiring performer giddy on a last minute vacation to New York. Two options are excellent for students:  the Broadway Student Lab and Hands-On Broadway designed for introducing performing arts.

Both have developed great programs for introducing acting, singing and dancing to students of the theatre arts. Broadway Student Lab presents an exciting week of theater projects, performances and workshops with talented singers, dancers, casting directors and writers. This program is a great opportunity for theater teachers who need to strengthen the core performers in their high school theater programs.

Student performers will introduce the techniques of how a theatrical text comes to life by partnering with an instructor to better understand the creation of inventive, honest, and detailed scene work. During a lastminute vacation holiday they gain a better understanding of what it means to pursue a career in the arts with a workshop designed to arm students with an arsenal of information, including headshots, resumes, auditions, and college admissions

Come and visit a New York City lastminute getaway hotel and get entertained. Students of the programs will also meet "Fresh Talent," a group of aspiring performers who are pursuing stage careers. This group shares interesting tales on the road to stardom. By evening the students enter the magic of "the Great White Way" with attendance at a live performance.

Try a guided sightseeing tour of New York City. The tour highlights the cultural icons of the city, such as Lincoln Center, Central Park and Greenwich Village. One of the attractions is the observatory which offers panoramic views within a glass-enclosed pavilion – it is the same place Cary Grant once waited for Deborah Kerr in an Affair to Remember. Why not try a lastminute vacation in the city that never sleeps….
